That's a wrap! Congrats to all participants! See you next year!
That's a wrap! Congrats to all participants! See you next year!
Our 50K course was designed to give you the chance to experience all the best of the northern Michaux. You will find yourself quickly navigating sandstone boulder ridges, woodland savannah, and lush rhododendron creeksides. We will guide you (via fantastic course marking) to nearly every great vista in this part of the forest using primarily single-track trail interspersed with occasional grassy double-track (and less than 4 miles total of gravel or asphalt road). Six kick-butt aid stations will be distributed along the way to keep you zippy and encouraged. Take on this incredible 50K Michaux challenge this Fall!!
IMPORTANT NOTE!!! A small section of the Ironmaster's 50K course enters the Tumbling Run Game Preserve. This is PRIVATE PROPERTY. We have obtained permission to use this section for our race.

DownloadDownload this handy table below and make it a part of your kit to help you stay on track on race day! The 50K course is a bit front-loaded, so cutoff times are a teeny bit more generous for the first 13.5 miles...but make sure you don't get complacent! You'll have to make up that time in the later sections of the race!
If any runner reaches the aid station before or at this cut-off time, they may continue on. Any runner reaching the aid station after the soft cut-off time MAY be given the option to continue, based on the judgement of the aid station captain. The aid station captain will make this judgement based on the condition of the runner, how close to the soft cut-off time the person has arrived, and how close or far from the aid station closing time it is.
If any runner reaches the aid station before or at this cut-off time, they may continue on. Any runner reaching the aid station AFTER the hard cut-off time will be pulled from the course, no exceptions. In this case, the participant must turn in their bib to the aid station captain. The aid station personnel may offer this person(s) a ride back to HQ or the Race Director may send a volunteer out to retrieve this person. This person will be very strongly discouraged from “finding their way back on their own”. We will assume no liability for this individual if they adamantly refuse to be transported back to HQ.
All aid stations will be fully stocked this year. You can expect to find the following available for your fueling and hydrating needs!
There will be a designated area at the Furnace Stack Pavilion (Race Start) for you to LABEL and drop your reasonably sized, preferably water-proof Drop Bag on race day. You must label your bag with your name and bib number. Duct tape and a sharpie will be available at the Drop Bag drop area. Your drop bag will be transported to Aid Station 4, mile 19.6, at the Brickyard Pavilion.
Volunteers will periodically transport used Drop Bags to the Finish Line Picnic at the Ironmaster's Mansion. You must claim your Drop Bag before you leave the race. We will NOT be mailing unclaimed Drop Bags back to their owners!
Hey, I know this is "just" a 50K, but who couldn't use a little boost from our buddies and loved ones? But due to very, very limited parking at most of our aid stations, crews will only be allowed to see and crew their runners at 2 locations: Brickyard Pavilion @ mile 19.6 and Laurel Lake Marina @ mile 23.6.
You may NOT go meet your runner at any other location besides Aid Station 4 and Aid Station 5. If you do, your runner will risk disqualification. Don't put all their hard work at risk!!
